The Enterprise Adviser programme works with schools to support better careers education through matching them with volunteers from the world of work. The volunteers work as advisers to the school’s senior management to develop a comprehensive strategy and plan for careers education.
More widely, it aims to support greater collaboration between schools and employers, ensuring schools have access to a diverse range of resources and professional advice to allow students to make informed decisions about the best career journey for them.
The programme is delivered through Team London and the Mayor’s Fund for London, supported by City Bridge Trust, the Careers & Enterprise Company, and Central London Forward.
Central London Forward’s role has been engaging additional support from City Bridge Trust boroughs with up to £500,000 over 2 years (from November 2016) to widen the offer to schools, and enable the programme to reach more learners with an enhanced service.
It is essential the Capital’s next generation are better prepared to enter the world of work and as the London Mayor’s recent London Ambitions report showed this can be achieved through aspirational careers guidance that reflects all pathways in to employment and increased employer interactions between business and schools.
