This concentration of economic activity drives agglomeration effects, underpinning the area’s high levels of productivity. However, central London’s economic success must not be taken for granted. While it is the most productive part of the UK, productivity growth has stalled since the financial crisis.
Rebooting central London’s productivity growth will be vital to reviving the economic prospects of the capital, and to achieving the government’s growth mission.
