Central London Forward (CLF) and its member authorities are making the case for sustainable funding for local government, and for further devolution.

Austerity

Local authorities play a vital role in supporting their communities, providing public services, and driving growth. However, they have faced significant cuts under austerity, with London boroughs seeing the largest cuts of all.

Despite some progress toward devolution, the UK remains highly centralised.

London boroughs are greatly important to their local economies, both as large employers and through procuring goods and services. CLF works with member authorities to help them build a stronger and more inclusive economy locally.

Funding and devolution

CLF is asking Government for fair and sustainable funding for local authorities, so they can meet the needs of residents and communities, and support local growth. The organisation is also presenting the argument for further devolution, including of employment and skills support.
